BrightQuery MCP Server

Screen and diligence U.S. companies with BrightQuery data from any AI assistant.

The BrightQuery MCP server connects AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor to BrightQuery's government-verified company data. An analyst asks a question in plain business language. The assistant screens the market, pulls financials, hiring trends, ownership and leadership for the targets, and turns the answer into a dashboard or a one-page tear sheet in the same conversation.

This proof of concept is built for the Capital Markets use case: PE/VC deal sourcing, M&A screening and investment-banking diligence on private companies.

What you can ask

Live BrightQuery data

These prompts run on real companies and call the BrightQuery API. Include the company's website: a search on the name alone can rank a similarly named company first.

Use casePromptTools called
Diligence tear sheetRun diligence on Flowers Foods (flowersfoods.com): financials, hiring trend, corporate family and leadership, as a one-page tear sheet.find_company, get_financials, get_hiring_trend, get_company_profile, get_leadership

Compare companiesCompare Flowers Foods (flowersfoods.com) and Chobani (chobani.com) on revenue, growth, EBITDA margin and revenue per employee.find_company, get_financials
Compliance checkIs Flowers Foods (flowersfoods.com) clean from a compliance standpoint? Check sanctions, tax liens and its corporate family of legal entities.find_company, get_company_profile
LeadershipWho runs Flowers Foods (flowersfoods.com)? List the leadership team and who can sign for the company.find_company, get_leadership
Hiring momentumIs Flowers Foods (flowersfoods.com) growing or shrinking its workforce? Show the last 24 months of headcount and payroll.find_company, get_hiring_trend
Company lookupFind Chobani in BrightQuery and show me all the matching entities.find_company
High-growth private companyPull Anthropic's (anthropic.com) financials: revenue history, growth and margins.find_company, get_financials

To diligence any other company, use the same pattern: Run diligence on [company] ([website]): financials, hiring trend, corporate family and leadership. Monthly headcount coverage varies by company. When BrightQuery has no monthly series for a company, the hiring trend comes back empty.

Market screening (sample dataset)

Find private software companies in California with $10–50M revenue growing faster than 20% a year, and build me a dashboard.

The assistant screens the market and returns a shortlist with segment statistics (median growth, margins, revenue per employee, funding stages), then builds a dashboard: KPI tiles, a revenue-versus-growth chart and a ranked target table. Follow up with Compare the top 3 from the shortlist on EBITDA margin and revenue per employee. Screening runs on a sample dataset, because the BrightQuery API has no screening endpoint (see About the data).

Connect your AI assistant

  1. In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it BrightQuery and paste the server URL: https://brightquery-mcp.developer-fc4.workers.dev/mcp.
  4. In a new chat, enable the BrightQuery connector from the tools menu and ask a question.

Who it is for

  • PE and VC firms sourcing and screening private targets, then monitoring their portfolio
  • M&A teams benchmarking candidates and validating corporate families before a deal closes
  • Investment bankers preparing valuations and comparables on private companies

The same server can grow with more tool sets, such as KYB verification, business credit and sales prospecting, on top of the same BrightQuery APIs.

About the data

Diligence tools return live BrightQuery data, and every response says where its data came from. The BrightQuery API has no screening endpoint yet, so screen_companies runs on a sample dataset of fictitious companies shaped like a BrightQuery Bulk Data Feed extract. Results from it are marked sample. In production, screening would run on a BrightQuery bulk feed or a screening API.
